Hot water extraction, shampooing, dry cleaning. Which one am I getting?
Hot water extraction is our default and covers the large majority of jobs. It heats and rinses the fiber under pressure, then vacuums the soil and solution out in the same pass, which matters on slab floors where you do not want water sitting in the pad. Shampooing scrubs foam into the pile and is mostly useful on heavily soiled commercial-grade loop carpet. Low-moisture dry cleaning gets used when a room has to go back into service quickly or when the carpet backing does not tolerate much water.

Realistically, how often should this get done?
Every 12 to 18 months for a typical household, and closer to every 6 to 9 months with pets, kids or a full house. Local conditions push that shorter than you might expect. How do you work out what a job costs?

Do we need to clear the rooms out first?
We move sofas, chairs, coffee tables and dining sets, and we set them on blocks or pads until the carpet dries. We leave beds, large wall units, pianos, aquariums and anything electronic where they sit. The postwar tract houses here have small bedrooms, narrow hallways and single-width doorways, so it helps if you clear small items, shoes, toys and floor lamps ahead of time. Which stains actually come out, and which ones are permanent?
Food, drink, mud, grease, most pet accidents and general traffic soil usually come out or improve substantially. Bleach, hair dye, mustard, some medications and drain cleaner remove color from the fiber, and nothing puts that color back. That is repair or patching, not cleaning. Old stains that have been scrubbed with a store-bought spotter are harder because the spotter often drove the stain deeper or damaged the pile. Is any of this a problem for kids or animals in the house?
No. The solutions we use are chosen for households with pets and small children, and hot water extraction rinses the residue back out rather than leaving it in the pile. Keep everyone off the wet carpet while it dries, mostly so nobody slips on hard floors on the way out of the room. Once the carpet is dry, there is nothing to wipe up or air out. Can you handle the couch, the area rugs and the tile floors too?
Yes. We clean upholstery, including sectionals, microfiber and sofas with delicate fabric that needs a low-moisture method. Area rugs get cleaned in place or picked up for off-site work, depending on the backing and dye stability. Where do you work, and can you come out today?
